Medical Information Advisory
Educational Purposes Only: The clinical, aesthetic, and dermatological information published on this website is for general educational orientation. It does not constitute specific medical advice, individualized diagnosis, or a binding doctor-patient relationship prior to a formal in-person physical consultation.
1. Physician Credentials & Statutory Standing
All clinical medical procedures described on this website are personally conducted, evaluated, and supervised by Dr Larisha Pather:
- Medical Qualification: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB).
- Regulatory Body: Registered as an Independent Medical Practitioner with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- Clinical Practice Base: Suite 2, Netcare Parklands Hospital, 45 Hopelands Road, Overport, Durban. The practice operates within an accredited acute hospital environment with direct access to resuscitation, emergency, and specialist support facilities.
2. No Doctor-Patient Relationship via Website
Browsing this website, submitting an intake inquiry form, messaging our reception team via WhatsApp, or reading procedural descriptions does not create or establish a formal doctor-patient relationship between you and Dr Larisha Pather.
A doctor-patient relationship is legally and ethically established only when you attend a scheduled in-person physical consultation, complete our formal medical intake history form, and undergo a physical clinical evaluation in our hospital consultation suite.
3. Acute Medical Emergency Protocol
Emergency Medical Directive
This website, our email, and our WhatsApp messaging services are NOT monitored for acute medical emergencies.
If you are experiencing an acute medical emergency, severe breathing difficulties, sudden facial asymmetry unrelated to planned procedures, chest pain, an acute allergic anaphylactic reaction, or visual disturbances, you must immediately:
• Dial the National Emergency Services at 10177 or 112 (mobile).
• Present immediately to the nearest 24-hour hospital emergency department, such as the Netcare Parklands Hospital Emergency Unit (Hopelands Road, Durban).
4. Physician-Administered Standard of Care
In accordance with HPCSA medical ethics and patient safety protocols, Dr Larisha Pather strictly adheres to non-delegated physician administration:
- No Third-Party Injectors: You will always be evaluated and injected directly by Dr Larisha Pather. Injection procedures are never delegated to nurses, beauty therapists, or unqualified personnel.
- Pharmacovigilance & Cold-Chain Integrity: All injectable neuromodulators, hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, and intravenous infusion constituents are sourced exclusively through licensed South African pharmaceutical distributors holding current SAHPRA approvals, stored under monitored clinical cold-chain conditions.
- Informed Consent Process: Informed consent is an ongoing clinical dialogue. Prior to any needle entry or chemical application, you will be informed of treatment indications, alternative modalities, anticipated downtime, and realistic outcomes.
5. Procedural Risks & Individual Variability
Aesthetic medicine and physiological wellness therapies involve biological tissue interventions. Responses to injectables, chemical solutions, and metabolic medications vary based on individual genetic factors, vascular anatomy, skin Fitzpatrick phototype, and metabolic clearance rates:
- Common, Transient Side Effects: Temporary erythema (redness), mild localized edema (swelling), sensitivity at needle puncture sites, and transient minor bruising are normal physiological responses that typically resolve within 2 to 7 days.
- Rare & Serious Complications: As with all medical injectable procedures, rare adverse events can include localized infection, granuloma formation, asymmetric muscular response, or vascular occlusion. Dr Larisha maintains dedicated emergency reversal agents (including pharmaceutical-grade hyaluronidase enzyme) on-site in theater for immediate clinical management if required.
- Lifestyle Factors: High UV sun exposure, nicotine consumption, alcohol intake, strenuous exercise within 24 hours of treatment, and non-compliance with post-care instructions directly impair aesthetic longevity and tissue recovery.
6. Absolute & Relative Medical Contraindications
Certain clinical treatments may be contraindicated or deferred for patient safety. Patients have an absolute ethical and clinical duty to fully disclose all current medications, medical diagnoses, and health conditions, including but not limited to:
- Pregnancy & Lactation: Aesthetic injectables (BTOX and Dermal Fillers) and systemic metabolic weight-loss medications are strictly contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
- Neuromuscular Disorders: Conditions such as Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or ALS preclude the administration of botulinum toxin products.
- Cutaneous Infections: Active herpes simplex (cold sores), active acne breakouts, or bacterial infections at or near the proposed injection sites require treatment deferral until fully resolved.
- Anticoagulation & Bleeding Disorders: Use of blood-thinning pharmaceuticals (Warfarin, Xarelto, Aspirin) or high-dose herbal supplements (Omega-3, Ginkgo Biloba) increases bruising risk and must be reviewed prior to treatment.
7. Before & After Clinical Imagery Ethics
In adherence to the HPCSA Guidelines on Advertising and Ethical Rules (Booklet 2 & 9):
- Authentic Patient Imagery: Any clinical case photographs displayed on our website, social media, or in-clinic portfolios represent real clinical treatments administered by Dr Larisha Pather.
- Zero Retouching: Clinical photographs are taken under standardized clinical lighting and are never digitally distorted, blurred, filtered, or altered to exaggerate treatment efficacy.
- Written Patient Consent: Photographic case studies are published exclusively with the explicit, signed, written consent of the patient. Consent may be revoked in writing at any future time.
- Illustrative Only: Before-and-after photographs serve to illustrate anatomical technique and clinical possibilities. They do not constitute an explicit or implied warranty that any subsequent patient will achieve identical results.
